Terror Tuesday - What Scares Slash

I have lots of issues.

One of them is with the fireworks display
that we get ever so often
outside the windows.

The New Year celebrations are particularly traumatic for me.
They are always loud, scary and go on for too long.
All those boom-boom-boom noises and smoke
may make my Mommy happy.
But they petrify me!

The moment I hear that first boom...

... I'd run and tuck myself tightly into the farthest corner.
That's usually the spot under Mommy's bed
between the laundry basket and tatami mat.

No matter how much Mommy tries to assure me and coax me out,
I stay firmly wedged in my security spot.

And after all that horror is over,
I usually spend the rest of the night walking around in a
crouchy sort of way with my body very close to the ground.

So I am dreading Australia Day which will be in a week's time.
More fireworks.
More scares.
More hiding.
More crouch-walking.

Sigh...

Poor Slash! I used to be that way about the fireworks, but I think I've gotten used to them.

Our woofies hate fireworks. They don't bother us much. We hope they aren't too scary.

Slahs, come to my house for the day! We are far enough away from the fireworks that they won't bother you here.

Slash, we hate the loud boomers too!! Fortunately, we only have them about once a year...around our 4th of July. We hope the ones coming up for you won't be too loud for you. But we're glad it looks like you have a safe place to hide from them.

Slash, I am sitting right in front of this big square thing with your picture on it, and it is BEAUTIFUL. But Slash, Sam & I know what you mean because those boom booms scare the beejesus out of us, too. Last time, Sam got so scared he started running for cover and ran straight into the wall! We think you're right to hide and wait it out. We learned that's the only way to do it. NOW, if humans celebrated by waving feather wands, that would be another story!
Nose licks and headbonks to you and Bronzy from us ~~

Slash, we agree. Load boomers are scary. At least you have a nice comfy place to hide in while they're going on.

You have a hiding place that's OK, but you really want a spot that is soundproof. We understand, because we hate loud noises too.
