This was what the vet said...

They had to re-open Bronzy. The internal stitching is intact and there is no abscess. But there is a lot of fluid building up around the surgical site and that's causing the swelling. They think that she is having a reaction to the stitches.

This isn't life-threatening, but they want to keep her at the clinic because the fluid will require continuous drainage over the next few days. Only after the reactions have stopped and there is no more built-up of fluid will she be able to come home.

I am relieved that the problem seems to be manageable. I really hope that they are taking care of my baby girl and that she will not have to endure too much discomfort from the needles.

PS. I wanted to get this out earlier, but I had an exam this morning that required mad preparation yesterday.

I'm just glad it doesn't seem to be anything too serious. I hope Bronzy feels better VERY soon.

Well, that's good that there is no abcess, and that the stitching is still intact. Hope it doesn't take too long for the reactions to stop. We're purring for a quick recovery by little Bronzy, so she can be at home with her family.

Well first of all, we totally understand the whole exam thing!! This whole grad school stuff SUCKS.

It is great it is just fluid and hopefully being at the vet's they can watch it and drain it and all will get better soon. Poor little Bronzy!

Oh, poor little Bronzy, get well soon sweetie! I'm sure she'll be fine, but what a pity the vets didn't spot the problem sooner! :) xxx

Poor Bronzy! I'm glad it isn't anything too serious, but it's too bad she must stay at the vet for several days.

My mom had a reaction to her internal stitches from foot surgery last year and they had to do more surgery on her to take them out. She says she feels Bronzy's pain!

Oh Bronzey,

This still sounds pretty ouchy and serious, but glad your insides are still inside and that you will soon be better and have a flat tummy again
