Bronzy's swelling now acknowledged as something more serious

In spite of the earlier reassurances given by veterinarians and nurses from various clinics over the past week, Bronzy's swelling on the belly has been getting worse and worse.

I've been told time and time again that she is merely healing slowly and differently. In fact, just two days ago, it was explained that because Bronzy was active and still jumping around, fluid was building up and causing the swelling, but that it wasn't a serious affliction.

But something is clearly not right.

So she was brought back to the clinic today. The vet in attendance thinks that one of two things could have happened. The internal stitching could have ruptured and the swelling is a result of her intestines spilling out or that there is an abscess growing underneath.

Bronzy will remain in the clinic over night. We will only know the exact cause of the swelling tomorrow after a second operation.

i have not seen this kind of long gash in a long time, most operations now have only about a 1cm wound... think you need to have a word with the vet.

I think you need to change vet asap.

Sorry i don't mean to scare you but you should try find and search around a reliable one through word of mouth etc...

I'm sure you're aware too that female sterelisation is a big operation and its bollocks that they keep telling you its ok, its healing. ANYTHING out of the ordinary should be looked at again.

Hope bronzy gets better soon.

OMG OMG OMG!!!!

Bronzy!

Our thoughts are with you, we hope you will be alright soon!

My cat pulled the stitches out after her ops, and she had some swelling due to fluid accumulation, but the swelling was not as big as Bronzy's.

I am so so sorry this is happening.

That swelling looks bad. It does not look like infection as the wound stitching is not red.

May be internal stitching rupturing. It happened to my KK according to her ex-owner. She had to go for 2nd op to rectify.

Don't worry too much. Cats are tough. Delicate though they seem.
