My baby girl, Bronzy

Dear all,

I apologise for my short disappearance. It has been a crazy, hectic and eventful few weeks. But the biggest excitement has to be the welcoming of my new 2-month-old daughter.

Her name is Bronzy and she came to me as a loving gift from a friend. She has a fantastic personality -- affectionate, bold, curious, very happy to be cradled in your arms and adores water. Bathing her is as easy as eating my favourite gelati ice-cream. Bathing Slash, on the other hand, is as tricky as solving the Rubik's Cube while refereeing a WWF wrestling match.

One of my problems, at the moment, is helping Slash and Bronzy get along. In spite of making their introductions as non-threatening and drama-less as possible, I have since had to referee non-stop hissy fits and foil lightning-quick assassination attempts. While I do not expect them to adore each other right away, avoiding bloodshed seems to be a good immediate goal. And I have only one week till the new semester to remove murder from their eyes.

For now, progress is slow. Slash wants to eradicate this intruder, while Bronzy wants to be rid of this predator twice her size and weight.

Suggestions, anyone?

OMG she's too cute!!!! Play therapy helped me adjust really fast. Nothing like sharing a wand toy.

Bronzy is beautiful! Congratulations!

I got used to Harley also through play: my Mommie took my very favorite toy (the Cat Dancer) and played with me while Harley was nearby. I was so focused on the toy, I hardly noticed Harley.

Welcome Bronzy, you're adorable!

Our mom always put the new kitty or kitties in a room to themselves for about 2 weeks. During this 2 week period, we would sniff and smell one another under the door and get used to the idea of another kitty in the house. This seemed to make face to face introductions easier.
Best of luck!!!!

Hello, Bronzy. You are adorable. I have always been an only cat, so I can't give any advice, but there are a lot of people on the CB that can give great advice. Good luck.

Mieow, cute Bronzy!!!! Welcome! I have been an only cat all the time except when I had my kittens, so I can't help but I am sure the experienced multi-kitty families in the CB would be able to give valuable advice.

Its not going to be easy...remember trying to get all 5 siblings together in the same room was such a bother too! 2 wants to play with the other 3, bombay and bangles just wanna get away, and poor gucci things how come got 3 other cats invading his space! I guess maybe some good old scolding might do the trick...i know that works on my 2 monsters at times and they seem to understand im angry...

We had the same problem, when Chilli came to live with me. It was pretty scary for our mom, growling and hissing the first two days, followed by persecution chases. We got a lot of advice from all the great cats out there, check out the comments to our post if you're still interested. After about a week and a half we slept in the same bed for the first time. Mom took the rough way and didn't seperate us in different rooms (not enough space here anyway), she let us sort it out between us. She only intervened a very few times, when it got too rough. Good luck, this is an exciting (and maybe a bit stressful) time, but we are sure that you'll be brofur and sisfur very soon!
