Cat adoption drive this Sunday!

There’s another cat adoption drive taking place this Sunday (3rd September) at the Singapore Expo. The Flyer and I will be there to take care of the CWS adoption booth.

Following the last adoption drive in April, there will be no ‘live’ cats at this one. The reason for this is to avoid stressing the poor cats out. They don’t do very well in strongly air-conditioned, scarily crowded, deafeningly noisy places packed with strangers trying to poke at them with fingers and brochures and what not.

Our strategy is to put up bright, colourful posters of the cats who are up for adoption. The outcome wasn’t so great the last time. While a good number of people showed a lot of interest in the cats, not many of our furry friends were successfully adopted out in the end.

There are many possible reasons for this… either because the fosters found the people to be lacking in some way, or the people themselves lost interest in the cats. But whatever the reasons may be, the adoption team has been hard at work to make this adoption drive a more successful one.

The team invested in bigger and better poster stands (so more cats can be publicised at the drive) and I have been hard at work every night trying to create more eye-catching posters of each cat.

So far, I’ve completed about 30 posters. I have about another 30 or so more to go.

Looking at this group of cats who are up for adoption this time, I’ve noticed a couple of familiar faces.
For example, there is a handsome tabby called Xiao Grey.

Handsome brothers, Xiao Grey (left) and Xiao Hei, remind me of Bombay and Bangles
I remember him from last April’s adoption drive. I created a poster for him and his brother, Xiao Hei. They were only 3 months old then.

This photo of Xiao Grey, used in last April's adoption drive, melted many hearts
Unfortunately, he still hasn’t been adopted out so I found myself staring at his photo again.

Photo to be used in this Sunday's adoption drive
He’s older now, but isn’t he as handsome as ever? I really really hope he’ll find a loving family this Sunday to take him to his Forever Home.
For those of you who would like to visit the adoption drive, here are the details for you.

This year’s Catango Champions are…

Yesterday night, we were given our new Catango Champions. They are none other than our very own…

... fiery Bombay and...

… and sensuous Bonnie.

Congratulations to the winning couple!

It certainly was not an easy competition to win. There were over 30 couples to beat. But with each round, Bombay and Bonnie proved to be the stars on the dance floor.

The judges’ votes were unanimous and Bombay and Bonnie were declared 2006’s Catango Champions, and were awarded the prestigious Catango Diamond Award by the International Catango Federation.

Don’t kick yourself for missing the hottest couple on the dance floor. There is still a chance for you to watch them in hot Catango action.

Bombay and Bonnie will be performing at the Annual Catango Extravaganza this Saturday, 26 August. It will be held at the Purris Hilton Ballroom at 6pm. Ticket prices range from $200 to $500.

If you’re a fan of this sizzling couple, don’t forget to wear the official fan club t-shirt. It is on sale at your nearest departmental store.

Those who are unable to attend the Catango Extravaganza can still catch all the action when the CD & DVD recordings are released in October.

Otherwise, buy your tickets now! Don’t miss the hottest, sexiest Catango couple of the year -- Bombay and Bonnie.

This is really bad

A Singaporean cat feeder in her 50's got attacked while out feeding her two community cats one night. A dark-skinned man punched and throttled her, and then robbed her after she had passed out.

Now, we don't know who can take over the feeding of the two community cats. The area is clearly not safe.

Below is a video clip of the story on the Chinese news channel. For those who don't know Mandarin, please click here for the article in the English newspaper.

Mommy won't let me be a ninja cat

Bombay: Fanks for the lift, Daddy! Wow... so this is what it looks like up here.

Bangles: Er... 'scuse me... but I fink the curtain railing is starting to bend out of shape.

Mommy: Okay, off you go. I'm not forking out for a new curtain railing.

Tag! We're it again!

Bangles and I were both tagged by Miss China Paws.

Here are the rules of this tag: The player of this game starts with "5 weird things/habits about yourself ". In the end, you need to choose 5 people to be tagged and list their names. The people who get tagged need to write a blog about their 5 weird things/habits, as well as state this rule clearly, then tag 5 more victims. Don't forget to leave your victim a comment that says "you're tagged!" in their comments and tell them to read your blog.
Alrighty. So here are my 5 weird things and habits.
Weirdness #1:

When I was a kitten, I could and would sleep anywhere. And in all the strangest positions too!

Weirdness #2:
I am a furry heavy sleeper. When I'm zonked, nothing... NOTHING can wake me up.

Weirdness #3:

I have my furry own spot in the house. I call it the Throne of Bombay. Bangles is NOT allowed anywhere near it. It is in a warm corner by the window. It gets lots of sunlight so it is where I take all my afternoon naps.

Weirdness #4:

I simply adore doing the Catango. I cannot resist doing a dance or two at any party. The beautiful Bonnie is my Catango partner and she makes me appear to be a much better dancer than I really am.

Weirdness #5:

The bestest weird thing about me is that I have not one, but two Mommies! One is my bean Mommy and the other is my Foster Mommy. So I get double the lurrve, treats and scratchies!

And now, I'll be handing ofur the blog to Bangles. Yoo-hoo, Bangles! It's your turn!
Weirdness #1:

When I was young, I had the coolest mohawk running down the whole of my back.

Weirdness #2:

I secretly enjoy bath time so I don't kick up a fuss like Bombay does.

Weirdness #3:

I believe that I am a ninja cat. And my favourite workout is running on top of and balancing on Mommy and Daddy's curtain railings. Bombay is waaaay too fat to even attempt it.

Weirdness #4:

I appeared on Singapurr's English and Chinese news channels. I was chosen as their model kitty for a story on an animal welfare event. My Foster Mommy said that I did a purrfect job and for a while there, I was a celebrity kitten!

Weirdness #5:
My Daddy finds it highly weird that I only snuggle up to him in absolute darkness. What can I say? I'm a shy cat.
And now, we tag KXBC, Cat Antics, Taro, Ayla The Grump and Cat Nap.
